Documented Data Sanitization
Reclaim Tech uses documented data sanitization procedures selected according to device type, media type, client requirements and intended disposition.
Our approach
Procedures Matched to the Media
Procedures are designed around recognized media sanitization guidance, including NIST SP 800-88 where applicable. The method selected for each device depends on the media type, its condition, whether the equipment will be reused or resold and any specific requirements provided by the client.
Devices that cannot be appropriately sanitized may be quarantined or routed to appropriate destruction processes rather than released for reuse.
An honest note on certifications
NIST does not certify companies simply for following its media sanitization guidance. Reclaim Tech LLC does not claim to be NIST, R2, NAID AAA, ISO or e-Stewards certified. Where a credential is earned in the future, it will be stated explicitly.
Media types
Device and Media Coverage
Each media class follows a defined handling path from intake through verification.
HDDs
Magnetic drives may be overwritten using documented procedures, or physically destroyed when required by the project.
SSD / NVMe
Flash media requires different handling than magnetic drives. Procedures are selected based on the device, controller behavior and verification requirements.
Phones
Mobile devices are processed to remove user data and account associations before eligible devices are reused or resold.
Tablets
Tablets follow mobile-device procedures, including checks for activation locks and remaining account links.
Servers
Server media is inventoried and processed individually, with drive-level records available for qualifying projects.
Storage Devices
External drives, arrays and removable media are evaluated for the appropriate sanitization or destruction path.
Chain of custody
Controlled From Pickup to Disposition
Controlled Handling
Data-bearing devices are separated, logged and handled under documented internal procedures.
Project Documentation
Applicable business projects may receive documentation identifying devices and the sanitization or disposition processes completed.
Physical Destruction Options
Physical destruction may be available directly or through an approved downstream service depending on project requirements.
Discuss Your Data Requirements
Tell us about your media types, volumes and documentation needs and we will outline the appropriate process.
